Our New Dog

We recently bought a French Bulldog and he´s the cutest thing ever. He´s a fabulous dog and we´re really happy. I haven´t knitted anything because I´m coming to the end of the school year and it´s always hectic this time of year. I don´t have much time for anything. Also, adding a new member to our family, Spock the Frenchie has also been an all consuming endeavor. I will begin to knit during the summer when I´m off and have more time on my hands. In the meantime, here´s a video of Spock. I will probably knit him a little sweater for the winter because Spock doesn´t like to be cold.

High School Musical

When Shaleek & Kyle are walking down the hallways at school students often mistake one for the other. Can you guess why....might be the hair, height, complexion.

Shaleek & Kyle trying to look pensive.

Short bio

My son Shaleek just turned 18 on Sunday. I can´t believe it!!! Where did the years go??? It went by so quickly although my life is much better now then it was when he was born. It´s been a long road but one worth being on. I´m so proud of him and everything he´s doing now. He received a dance scholarship in January and has become very motivated and focused on dance...he´s even teaching me some things. This summer we plan on taking ballroom classes together and I´m very much looking forward to it.

In March he and his friend Kyle performed in High School Musical and I thought they did a wonderful job. Kyle played Chad and my son was a Basketball player. It´s the first time my son has ever performed in a musical and I was very proud of him.

Projects on the bench

I have a couple of projects that I´ve been working on over the years. If I get stuck at a certain part in the pattern I either haven´t had the time to go and get help or thought to myself, "I can figure this out" and ended up with a big mess. These projects haven´t been completed mainly for those reasons. I would eventually like to finish these projects before starting new ones.

Cable Socks for me.

Socks for my best friend Diana.

A cute hat for me.

Knits from the Past

Here are pictures of things I´ve knitted over the years.

Hat and matching scarf. I don´t like the scarf because it always curls, I didn´t add a border to the pattern...I never did that again.

A hat that when I wear it people always ask, How did you get that furry stuff on the hat?

Hearts Dishcloth

Progress so far on the dishcloth 3/22/09.

I went to the knitting store today and purchased green yarn. It wasn´t the deep Brazilian colored yarn that I wanted but it´s green. I had a pattern that I was going to do from ravelry. I was so excited to get started when I arrived home from the knitting store.
I sit on the coach, get comfortable and start knitting. I get to the point in the pattern where it´s asking me for yarn overs. I get out my knitting bible and look it up. I have an idea but want to be sure. I figure it out and keep going. Well by the 3rd row the pattern was a mess! I had to rip out the 3 rows I completed and decided this wasn´t the best thing for me to be doing.
Can I figure it out...absolutely! Do I want to spend time figuring it out...absolutely NOT! That would require alot of running around and energy that I don´t have much off. I will work on that in the summer when I´m off.

In the meantime I´ve decided to knit, Be My Dishcloth by Kristen Patay at - http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/be-my-dishcloth

Knitting 101

I have been knitting on and off for over 10 years. I decided to pick up knitting again because my life isn´t busy enough and I want to add one more thing on my plate...LOL! I´m a teacher so during the school year I´m pretty busy but on my down time I´d like to knit.
I´m a reality TV junkie: Dancing with the Stars, So You Think You Can Dance, The Real Housewives (all of them), Top Chef, Millionaire Matchmaker, Project Runway, Flipping Out, Million Dollar Listing, American Idol(go Allison) just to name a few. I probably watch way too much TV. While I´m watching junk TV I think it would be a great idea to knit.
I don´t like to work on big projects because I get bored very quickly and they take forever for me to complete. I´m planning on starting a new project as soon as I´m inspired. In the meantime, here´s a hat I made about 7-8 years ago. I tried to find the pattern online but couldn´t. It´s by Plymouth Yarn Company and it was designed by JoAnne Turcotte, it´s called Fingerpaints.

This hat took me about 3 hours to knit and it´s one of my favorites to wear.
